About America’s Byways Resource Center

Byway leaders, local groups, volunteers, organizations, and State and Tribal byway coordinators responsible for the planning and marketing involved with nationally designated byways have looked to the America’s Byways Resource Center for training, information and expertise.
Congress established the America’s Byways Resource Center, which opened in January 1999 as a division of the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC), providing funds through an agreement with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
In August 2011, the Secretary of Transportation determined that the Resource Center, along with several other programs, was sufficiently funded and reallocated the remaining dollars to other programs. No additional FHWA funding will be provided to operate the Resource Center in calendar year 2012 or beyond.
As an integral part of the long-term success of the National Scenic Byways Program, the Resource Center is committed to continuing the same high level of quality technical services and products in the months ahead.
